Book early! Accommodation, restaurants, activities, wine tours etc - the Hunter Valley can get very busy, so the earlier you book whatever you want to do out here the better!

Ticket prices vary depending on special events being hosted by Hunter Valley Gardens, however, when you are a guest at the Mercure you receive a discounted rate of 50% if you purchase your tickets with us.

Every School holidays the Hunter Valley Gardens has Childrens activities, from a reptile petting zoo, to jumping castles, outdoor ice rinks and Christmas light displays, contact our friendly reservations team for more detail as to what activities the Gardens provide for your family holiday.

Get Active!
Bike hire, Putt putt, aqua golf, out door play grounds and the story book garden are all outdoor fun for your Children

Culinary Kids
Cookie, Chocolate and Lolly shops are scattered in the Hunter Valley Gardens Village and are a fabulous reward for the sweet toothed child who has been very well behaved!

Weather aside every season in the Hunter Valley has a unique attraction...

Summer
Harvest time, Christmas lights and white wine tasting is perfect during a summer family getaway in the Hunter Valley

Autumn
Attend a concert, tour the vineyards on a bicycle, head out for an early morning hot air balloon experience while there is still some warmth during the day and vines are full of leaves.

Winter
Snuggle fireside with a mulled wine, taste the Hunter Valley's infamous Shiraz, experience the educational adventure of June food wine month or check out the Snow Garden in the Hunter Valley Gardens, winter in the Hunter Valley is truly romantic.

8.   What times are the Cellar doors open?
 

As a standard Cellar doors are open 10 am – 4.30pm every day of the week, closing major public holidays (Christmas day & New Years Day)

  
9.   What times does the Hunter Valley Gardens open?
 

9am - 5pm daily, closed Christmas day.
From 6:30pm - 10pm for the Christmas Lights Spectacular 10th November - 14 January.

  
10.   What Transport is available to get to the Hunter Valley?
 

Transport from Sydney:

  • Train from Sydney to Morisset (enquiries Cityrail 131 500)
  • Bus from Morisset to Cessnock (enquiries Rover Coaches 02 4990 1699)
  • Taxi from Cessnock to Pokolbin (enquiries Cessnock Radio Cabs 02 4990 1111)
  • Private transfers from Sydney Airport can be arranged through the airport direct on 02 9667 9111


Transport from Newcastle:

Advisable to take private transfers which can be arranged through Newcastle Airport on 02 4928 9822

For something more unique, our property does have a helicopter landing pad.  Hotel management approval needs to be given for the use of this facility.

  
11.   Where are the Hunter Valley Gardens located in relation to the Mercure Resort?
 

The Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens is located in the same precinct, adjacent to the Hunter Valley Gardens.

It is a 10 minute walk from our reception.
