Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens is currently supporting upcoming artist Stephenie Bester, who lives and works on the northern beaches in Sydney. Bester paints in a variety of styles with a common thread being her wide use of texture. The Resorts main lodge boasts Stephenie's pieces, all of which are for sale through the Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens.

Born and raised in country N.S.W., now living on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and fortunate enough to have travelled extensively, "I've been influenced by not only the colours, but also by the mood of a number of nations and this is evident in the varied themes running through my paintings" says Bester.

"Exploring new techniques and subject matter is very exciting. I often follow the canvas and what it's telling me; each subject requires its own approach and the challenge of mastering this keeps my interest in painting alive and fresh."

"My love of colour and creativity has taken centre stage. When I'm painting, time disappears and I'm in a space within time itself. The wonderful feeling of creativity, to watch a canvas come alive, even the fight with the canvas itself (to quote Brett Whitely "art is the art of difficult pleasure") makes it incredibly rewarding. A combination of these things and an ongoing respect for my mentors is immensely satisfying for me."
