No trip to the Hunter Valley is complete without exploring these world famous gardens. Nestled at the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges, the gardens have over 60 acres of spectacular displays, with 8km of walking paths that make it easy to discover the many feature gardens hidden within. There is always events, some specific to the season, with plenty for kids and families to do.

The Hunter Valley is famous for wines, and one of the best wineries in the region is McGuigan’s. Their knowledgeable and friendly cellar door staff will guide you through a tasting of McGuigan’s wines. A feature of the Hunter Valley in the last decade is the open air concerts. You can sample a fine selection of chocolate and there is even a fudge making station where you can see the fudge being made at the 2320 location.

  1. Maitland Gaol

For something completely different, a trip to Maitland Gaol will be talked about for many years after your Hunter Valley getaway. Located 20 minutes from Pokolbin in the middle of one the Hunters oldest towns, Maitland Goal is steeped in history and supernatural superstition. There are a wide variety of tours available, ranging from night tours, ghost tours and former inmate tours. As well exploring the gaols past, there are also modern events held such as the Bitter & Twisted Beer Festival which you can add to your calendar for November travellers.
